What is ergonomic design?
Simply put, rather than expecting people to adapt to a design that forces them to work in an uncomfortable, stressful, or dangerous way, if something is designed ergonomically, the product, workplace or system is designed to suit the people who need to use it. This seems logical. However, when it came to electronics this simply was not possible due to the rigid nature of traditional printed circuit boards. The design was instead dictated by the space needed for the electronics, rather than the electronics being made to fit the design. With the development of our flexible, conformable electronics this problem has been solved allowing for greater creativity and fluidity in design providing for all manner of new ergonomic opportunities, across all applications and sectors.
In2tec In2Sense-3D
New, ground-breaking design possibilities are feasible with In2tec’s sustainable flexi-hibrid™ technology and highly recyclable electronic assemblies. We have invested in and developed proprietary technologies and capabilities for thermoforming 3D circuits. These not only address function, but remove packaging constraints to open-up new ergonomic, and minimalistic design possibilities.
Our flexible electronics are a set of technologies that provide flexible circuits which typically utilise conductive ink and components that bend or conform in ways that are impossible with traditional ‘hard’ electronics. We spearhead the development of specialist thermoformed 3D-contoured electronics by working with world-leading printed ink manufacturers. Through the implementation of the latest generation of silver, transparent, and CNT™ inks and substrates, our solutions can be less than 1mm thick. For these reasons, we provide solutions to customers across all sectors from automotive and aerospace, through to banking and medical.
With 25+ years of experience, we have designed and delivered products with boundary-pushing 3-dimensional circuitry. In application, using our sustainable flexible electronics, In2sense 3D technology breaks down design barriers by giving you the ability to form conductive circuits to trace the silhouette of your end product. We are known for pushing the boundaries with conformable solutions for the benefit of user experience. We developed the world’s first complex curve, smartphone-style interface panel – and doing so demonstrates we can help you transform your product innovation for advantages around ergonomics and shape, as well as weight, space, and overall cost.
You’ll be able to create products and interfaces which don’t adopt the planar model. Our capability will enable you to design products and interfaces ergonomically that deliver the ultimate user experience. Furthermore, with our capabilities we can integrate illumination solutions, including our ‘Secret-til-Lit’ technology for aesthetically stylised non-cluttered interfaces, which illuminate only when required by the user. All this gives rise to an ergonomic design to meet your precise requirements, and critically those of your customers.
Not only that, at In2tec, our patented technology ‘ReUSE®’ provides material, models and process technology to deliver sustainable flexible printed circuit board assemblies that allow a truly circular economy and deliver a positive impact towards achieving Net Zero Carbon Emissions. Using proprietary electronics design and manufacturing techniques along with patented ReUSE® conductive adhesives, inter-layer adhesives, printed inks and dielectrics, we can deliver printed circuit assemblies with 100% recyclability. This, together with ‘ReCYCLE™’ – In2tec’s patent-pending low-energy electronic component process and modules detachment process delivers fully reusable and undamaged components and materials for use in second-life. ReUSE® and ReCYCLE™ can deliver 100 % material recycling of its printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs). This contrasts sharply with typical PCBA material recycling of just 3-5 %.
